Foxey Fox fox fox, in this instructional blog you are about to witness my giant hands create something very teeny tiny, a miniature fox. The medium of choice, polymer clay, makes this an easy task due to its great pliability. Polymer clay also comes in a great variety of colours that are easy to blend to create and alter hues. The only problem I encountered in this exercise was whether my giant hands would squash the clay fox in the process...?
Now before I move on, foxey needs a name, I had a perfect suggestion from Mont Marte Artist Monica providing the name Bijou, which means something delicate, elegant, or highly prize. She is so sweet!
One last matter of business to take care of before you get in-FOX-icated with my instructions, my mind has simply exploded with fox pop culture references! Let me know if you remember any of the following??:
- Walt Disney's The Fox and the Hound.
- The Animals of Fathering Wood TV Series, (Mont Marte Artist Lily reports, "I totally cried during that show").
- Austin Power's Foxey Cleopatra.
- BBC's sitcom Basil Brush.
- Pokemon's ninetails a golden-white nine-tailed fox. *NERD ALERT* Ninetails is based on a Japanese fox spirit not an actual fox.
- AND OF COURSE- the browser which I'm using right now- FIREFOX. Please see below.
OK fox rant over!
1 x teeny tiny bit orange polymer clay
clay tool - needle point end
baking alfoil and oven
1. Cut out the shapes you need to a fox. Just keep thinking SMALL. Bijou needs a head, tail, body, 2 x ears and 4 x legs.
3. Using our mini modelling tools to shape and smooth his body parts.
5. Position the body parts wear you need, you can even swing the tail around to make him even cuter.
7. Here, add white to his chest and tip of the tail for a furry look.
